How to select the blank of transmission shaft forgings

The commonly used materials for axial forging are generally 35 steel, 45 steel, 50 steel and other carbon structural steel, and the most commonly used is 45 steel. For the blank of transmission shaft forgings, different blank of forgings can be selected according to different requirements and production plans of forgings. Our company produces and processes transmission shafts of various materials according to the needs of customers' drawings.
Q235 can also be used for shafts with small or less important loads. Q275 and other ordinary carbon structural steel. According to the size of the shaft or the importance of the shaft, some low alloy steel, such as 40cr.20crmnti, can also be selected. 45 steel is a medium carbon steel with a wide range of materials, complete specifications, simple heat treatment and affordable price. It is an axial forging material.
40cr steel is a medium carbon low alloy steel with a wide range of materials and complete specifications, but its price is slightly higher than 45 steel. Heat treatment requires oil cooling. However, under relative conditions, its strength and other properties are better than 45 steel, and it can be selected under higher requirements. 20-mnti is a low carbon alloy steel with low carbon content and is generally carburized. After carburizing and quenching treatment, the surface of forgings becomes hard, but the internal toughness is good. It is generally used for axial forgings with wear-resistant outer surface. Low-carbon alloyed steel such as 20CrmnTi.20mnzB.20Cr or 38CrMoAIA nitrided steel can be used for shafts working under high speed and heavy load conditions. After carburizing and quenching, low carbon alloy steel has higher surface hardness, impact toughness and heart strength, and less heat treatment deformation.
The most commonly used blanks in transmission shaft forgings are round bar materials and forgings. The castings are only used for some large shafts with complex structures. According to the processing requirements and all aspects of product application, our company reasonably uses the blank material for processing and forging.
