Analysis of Quenching Temperature of Aluminum Alloy Forgings
The simulation rule of forging temperature change during solution treatment, in which the temperature in the center area of the forging is the lowest and the surface temperature of the forging is the lowest. During the heat treatment, the thick second phase particles of 7050 high-strength aluminum alloy forgings were dissolved, which improved the strength, plasticity and toughness.
After solid solution treatment, 7050 high strength aluminum alloy forgings shall be quenched rapidly to maintain its solid dissolved structure, prevent particle growth, and improve material strength and hardness. After calculation, the temperature distribution of the forging is 30s after quenching. The distance between the axial end face of the forging and the central area is the longest.
The surface temperature of forgings rapidly drops to the ambient temperature during quenching, but the center temperature drops slowly. After 303 quenching, the center temperature is still above 400 ℃. The inflection point on the curve indicates the change of temperature growth rate, which is related to the discontinuity of element temperature and the thermal conductivity of materials in finite element calculation, because the thermal conductivity of materials is a function of temperature.
